Weekly skin care routine for oily skin: Exfoliate

If you have oily skin, your weekly skincare routine should be different from your daily routine. When you are skin is oily, you need to exfoliate daily and at least once a week. The reason why you need to exfoliate is because the extra dead skin cells that are stuck on the top of your skin will block your pores. This will result in excessive oiliness and you will have breakouts. However, if you do exfoliate and keep to your daily skin care routine, you should see your breakouts go away and your skin will return to its normal state.

Your skin’s protective layer is very thin and is quite easily damaged. In fact, it can easily be damaged by daily exposure to the sun. You also need to remove dead skin cells regularly to keep your skin’s health intact. You can do this by using a cleanser that is gentle and that contains natural ingredients like tea tree oil or manuka honey. You will be surprised to know that these products can exfoliate effectively without causing any harm to your skin’s health.

When you exfoliate, you should use warm water and a gentle scrub or loofah. You should try to stay clear of any scrubs or exfoliating products that have ingredients like petrolatum, wax, mineral oil or paraffin. Those products are actually too greasy and can make your skin even oilier. If you find that your skin feels tight and dry after exfoliation, you may want to use a moisturizer afterwards. So, your weekly skincare routine for oily skin should always include cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.
